NUVE Cover Comparison

NX1 vs NX2

Two protection systems, not two versions of the same product

NX1 and NX2 are two different NUVE protection systems built for two different problems. The NX1 is a full-body cover that shields a bicycle's frame and components from weather, UV exposure, and condensation, primarily during outdoor storage and transport. The NX2 is a wheel and lower-frame shield that protects floors, walls, and vehicle interiors from tyre residue, chain grease, and drivetrain soot, primarily during indoor storage and transport. They are not two tiers of the same cover, they solve opposite ends of the same problem, and most riders who store a bike indoors after riding it outdoors need both.

outdoor bike cover

NX1

The NX1 is built for the outdoor half of bike ownership. It covers the frame, tubes, and components from rain, UV exposure, and the condensation that forms inside a cover left in shifting temperatures overnight. It is open at the base, so the tyres stay in contact with the ground, this is a structural choice, not an omission, and it's what keeps the cover stable in wind rather than acting as a sail. Where the bike is stored against a wall, the enclosure also protects the wall from frame contact.
The NX1 on its own does not shield the floor, as it has no base panel and is not designed to contain what a bike sheds onto the ground beneath it. That floor-protection role is handled by the NX2.

indoor bike cover

NX2

The NX2 is built for the indoor half. It shields the tyres and drivetrain, the two parts of a bike that pick up the most road residue, leaving the saddle and handlebars exposed, since those don't need floor-level protection. It's what stands between a bike brought in from outside and the floor or wall it's leaned against: tyre residue, chain grease, pedal debris, and drivetrain soot stay contained in the shield rather than transferring onto the surface underneath or behind it.
The NX2 on its own does not protect the rest of the bike from weather or UV exposure, intentionally leaving the saddle and handlebars exposed. However, combining it with the NX1 provides complete coverage: the NX1 protects the entire bike from top to bottom, and pairing it with the NX2 adds an extra layer of reinforced strength across the wheels and critical component areas.

NX2 - Materials & Certifications

The NX2 body is made from Carvico fabric, a recycled polyester and elastane blend, GRS and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified. The fabric is more elastic than the NX1 fabric, engineered for a universal fit across different bike types and sizes. UV protection is listed as a fabric feature without a certified numeric rating. Fabric and assembly take place in Italy.

One bike, two exposures

A bike that's ridden outside and stored inside faces two separate protection problems, not one. Outside, it needs shielding from weather and UV. Inside, it needs to stop what it picked up outside from transferring onto the floor or the wall. The NX1 solves the first problem. The NX2 solves the second. Neither is a lighter or heavier version of the other, they cover different parts of the bike, in different environments, against different threats. Most riders who bring a bike indoors after outdoor use need both: the NX1 for transport and outdoor storage, the NX2 for the moment the bike comes inside.

Combined use — NX1 over NX2 for full coverage

The NX1 and NX2 can be installed together on the same bike. The NX2 goes on first, fitted directly against the tyres, drivetrain, and lower frame. The NX1 goes on over the top, its full-body enclosure is designed to drape over the whole bike, including a bike already wearing the NX2 underneath. Installed in that order, the two systems combine into a single layered configuration: the NX2 contains tyre residue, grease, and drivetrain soot at the source, while the NX1 seals the rest of the bike against weather, UV, and condensation from above.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Installed in sequence, the NX2 first, against the tyres and drivetrain, then the NX1 over the top, they combine into a single layered system that covers both problems at once: weather and UV protection from the NX1, floor and wall protection from the NX2.

No. The NX1 is open at the base and the tyres remain on the ground; it protects the bike and the wall behind it, not the floor beneath it.

Yes, in spaces where floor protection isn't the priority, a garage, a workshop, or a vehicle interior. During vehicle transport, the NX1 shields the frame, wheels, and other components from scratching or transferring dirt onto vehicle surfaces; the tyre contact points at the base remain uncovered, consistent with the NX1's open-base design. When combined with the NX2, it can readily be used indoors whenever floor protection is a priority.

No.The NX2 is built for indoor floor and wall protection rather than outdoor weatherproofing, which is the NX1's role.

Because those aren't the parts of the bike that transfer residue onto floors or walls. The NX2 covers the tyres, drivetrain and pedals, which are the contact points that carry most dirt and need containing indoors. When combined with the NX1, it fully shields the bike to protect indoor surfaces from contact with the handlebars and saddle as well.

Yes. Beyond indoor floor and wall protection, the NX2 also protects vehicle interiors from dirt carried in the tyres and drivetrain during transport, and shields the drivetrain itself from contact with pets or children when the bike is stored indoors.

The NX2 on its own may be sufficient, since its job is floor and wall protection rather than weatherproofing. The NX1 becomes necessary once the bike is stored outdoors or transported exposed to the elements.
